About

Benjamin and Jacob Peterson received their first 15 chicks on March 31st, 2008 and have been feeding, watering, and doing all that is necessary to raise them (with a little help from Dad).  With great anticipation, on July 21st they received their first egg.

When you buy B&J’s eggs you are helping the boys learn responsibly and entrepreneurship; plus any profits will go to the boy’s education. So not only are you getting a superior egg, you are also helping to provide a solid Christian education for the next generation of leaders.

About our Hens and Eggs:

We now have 4 Black Star and 7 Red Star Hens and 25 black Australorps, 25 Rhode Island Reds, 25 White Rocks, and 25 Shaver (Rhode Island Red / Barred Rock cross) chicks.  Black and Red Star chickens are a sex-link chicken that have been breed for easy identification at birth and for optimum brown egg production.  The others are considered good dual purpose chickens, were as the cockerels our butchered at around 12 weeks and the pullets are kept for brown egg production.

Our hens are allowed to free range for a good part of the day which allows them to get fresh air, sunlight, green grass, and yummy bugs (high in protein). Unlike, the commercial production eggs; free range eggs in general have more omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, beta carotene, and half the cholesterol.  So, for about the same price as the commercial egg, why would you not buy our farm fresh brown eggs?
